Ghoul Character Creation

Broadly speaking character creation for ghouls follows the same guidelines as for vampires. Exceptions and changes to this are noted below.

Ghoul Disciplines

All ghouls must have at least one level of Potence, and can learn Celerity and Fortitude without needing special training or access to specific vampire blood.

Ghouls can learn the clan Disciplines of their Domitor, but need to be taught the first level. They can also learn other Disciplines, but need to be taught the first level and to have ongoing access to blood from a vampire who has that Discipline in order to use it themselves. For practical purposes, this means only ghouls trusted with specific tasks will have access to more than the three basic physical Disciplines, and only those with the most powerful (or trusting) Domitors will have Disciplines from more than one Clan.

Because PC ghouls will be participating in vampire society rather than merely overseeing their Domitor’s mortal interests or acting as part of their retinue, it is assumed they are in the rare position of being somewhat trusted. However, players must provide a brief explanation of why their Domitor feels they need access to a particular additional Discipline to fulfil their assigned role.

Maximum Discipline Levels

The power in a ghoul’s blood is only a borrowed sip of vampiric might; thus, even the most ancient and powerful ghoul is barely able to wield Disciplines as effectively as a neonate. A ghoul’s maximum level of any single Discipline is limited by their Domitor’s generation, while the total levels of all Disciplines they may have is limited by their own age; experience brings rewards, after all.
